The Perfect House
Yesterday, I was wandering around my neighborhood, looking at the houses. And then I found it. The Perfect House. The house that I would buy if I had money. The perfect house for living in the city. On a quiet street, but close to the subway, the gym, and an awesome Starbucks. (I stopped there after my walk to fill up on scones and get a New York Times for the crossword puzzle.)
It has a widows walk!! I love widows walks (the balcony on the 3rd floor). Ever since I first heard about widows walks-- how the women of Nantucket used to use them to look out to sea to see if their husbands were coming home-- I have thought they were terribly romantic, and I have wanted one.
Also, this perfect house, has a perfect yard-- a double yard. Most houses in Lincoln Park have tiny patches of ground in the front that are turned into tiny gardens (or covered by concrete if you are my landlord). In the back of the house, there is a slightly larger patch of ground, which is more often grass, or covered in brick to make a patio. People do not do much serious gardening.
But this house has a beautiful garden.
There are beautiful flowers, and sculptured bushes, and even a fountain! There is even space for a lawn, which is lush and beautiful. The only thing I would change, is that I would add peonies, because they are my favorite flower.
And the house is for sale. Oooooh, I wish I had the money to buy this beautiful house.

Just tell them you are a lawyer, and maybe the bank won't check your finances too much so you can get the mortgage. Just saying.
It is a beautiful house! Is it for sale, or did you just find it walking by or something?
I'd totally fight you for it if I lived in Chicago. :)
AND I have peonies in my backyard, I think. They are beautiful!
Perhaps you could afford it if you had a few more clients of your own?
Maybe you could deduct it as a business expense? As a lawyer you should have lots of tricks like that up your sleeve, right?
